GHENT UNIVERSITY
GLOBAL CAMPUS
Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC), established in 2014, offers bachelor’s degrees in life sciences:
Environmental Technology, Food Technology, and Molecular Biotechnology. GUGC aims to inspire students to
address global challenges such as international health, climate change, and food security. Through critical
and creative thinking, GUGC's programs equip students with the skills needed to develop innovative solutions.
The university believes in the importance of continually educating future generations to tackle ongoing
international issues effectively.

GLOBAL CAMPUS
Plant Biotechnology Research Center
The Plant Biotechnology Research Center at Ghent University Global Campus conducts diverse research in plant science,
spanning molecular biology to applications in agriculture and the environment. Our focus includes understanding
how plants perceive and respond to signals, reprogramming cellular processes for adaptation, and enhancing fitness
through plant-microbe interactions. Using Arabidopsis thaliana and Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) as model systems,
we investigate molecular mechanisms governing growth, stress responses, and immune defenses, with a special emphasis
on Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinases (MAPKs) using chemical genetics. Our projects offer training in plant development,
crop improvement for stress resistance, and plant-microbiota interactions.
